Yosemite National Park's El Capitan is beautiful and one of the largest rock formations in Yosemite Valley. It rises over 3,000 feet above the valley floor and its highest point reaches a staggering 1369 meters or 4426 feet tall!
El Capitan towers over thousands of people each year who come to see it from within Yosemite Valley but also for those that hike up to base camp at 3000 m (9843 ft). From there- climbers use ropes, helmets, harnesses as well as their strength training endurance climbing skills which take weeks if not months before they reach El Captain’s peak. Seeing El Capitan from Yosemite Valley is an awe inspiring experience and if you are lucky you will even see some climbers on the face of El Capitan
